This is a sweet bit of carving in Dupont Circle. It's a post on top of a staircase of a brownstone right next to my favorite coffee house.
Unlike a lot of other figurative carving in the city, this little guy is at street level and one can walk to up him and feel the depth of the carving. I don't know another example like this, outside of cemeteries, that allows you to appreciate the actual workmanship in old carving.
